The Children’s Learning and Research Center (CLRC) at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Instructor of Early Care and Education (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will teach children between the ages of eight (8) weeks and five (5) years. Responsibilities include classroom teaching in a family centered program using project based learning and an emergent curriculum, supervision of assistant staff, collaboration with academic faculty, mentoring of pre-service teacher candidates, and participation in academic research.

Required Education: Master’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or closely related field; an earned bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education or closely related field with significant experience may be substituted.

Required Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to communicate and relate with parents as well as work effectively as a team player. Demonstrated skill in supervising a classroom with attention to developmentally appropriate practices. Demonstrated ability to supervise student assistants and practicum students. Experience working with children ages eight (8) weeks to six (6) years.

Preferred Qualifications: Pre-K-3 Virginia teaching certification. Experience in licensed center-based child care facility.

Conditions of Employment: Virginia State Police Criminal History Check, Virginia Child Protective Services Central Registry Check, clear TB screening/test. Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration training.
