Middlesex Community College offers more than 70 degree and certificate programs in a broad range of liberal arts, occupational and career studies at the main campus in Middletown, satellite location in Meriden, and online. The Director of Student Activities develops, designs, implements and evaluates a range of services to promote the social, cultural, fitness, and recreational needs of students. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, this position will lead a student activities program that serves and supports all students and encourages collaboration and communication amongst all faculty and student affairs staff, while promoting MxCC's “One Team” college-wide climate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The Director of Student Activities is accountable for contributing to the retention of students by providing social, cultural, fitness, and recreational services conducive to positive experiences and development of students at the College. Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge and abilities in advisement of student organizations; development of student activities including recreational activities and those oriented toward providing for enhancement of students’ cultural and leadership experience; strong information technology skills; experience recruiting, supervising, training and developing support staff; developing and/or managing operating budgets and effective oral and written communications.
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriately related field together with two to five years of related experience.
Special Experience: Preferred experience includes experience in a community college setting; an understanding of the mission of the community college; demonstrated involvement in support of diversity and/or experience working with students of varying backgrounds and abilities. Candidates must possess valid driver’s license as in state travel to satellite location and other CSCU events will be required.

Working Conditions: Incumbents typically perform their work in offices, student centers and athletic facilities. Incumbents may actively participate in physical fitness and athletic training and may accompany students on field trips. Incumbents may also travel to regional or central meetings and conferences.
