And The Winners Are...
The 2007 College Cartoonist Contest has concluded and StudentAffairs.com is pleased to announce the following winners.
FIRST PLACE $400.00 Kari Smith
Kari Smith is an international award winning animation student from
Grand Valley State. She started drawing comics in high school for the
school newspaper and continued it for a couple years in college. When
she is not animating or drawing, she enjoys sleeping. A lot.
SECOND PLACE (tie) Bill Richards
Bill Richards, of Atlanta, is the editorial cartoonist for the Red &
Black, the University of Georgia's independent student newspaper. He
is a senior majoring in communication. Though after graduation he
would like to get a "real" job as an editorial cartoonist, he is busy
working on Plan B.
SECOND PLACE (tie) Michael O'Brien
Mike O'Brien is a designer, illustrator, editorial cartoonist and
drawer of the comic strip Nut Butter for the University of Maryland's
student newspaper, The Diamondback. His website: www.obriencomics.com
THIRD PLACE (tie) Kurt Francom
I'm a super senior at the University of Utah (who knows if I'll ever
graduate). I spend my time drawing for the Daily Utah Chronicle and
reading hate mail.
THIRD PLACE (tie) Matthew Blackman
I am a fourth year student at Rutgers University. I am studying to
become a high school physics teacher. I draw comics in my spare time
for the school paper, and perhaps one day will try to get into a real
newspaper. My comic is entitled "The Universe and More."
